The Ethiopian Investment Agency (EIA) is the goverment organ responsible for promoting and facilitating foreign investment in the country. It is a one-stop-shop for all investors in Ethiopia.

Foreign investors can benefit from a series of investment incentives like:

  • Customs duties exemption,
  • Export incentives,
  • Income tax holiday (for 2 to 7 years)
  • Loss carried forward, etc...

    An overseas company wishing to invest through a branch office has to complete its registration at the Ethiopian Investment Agency, while foreign companies wishing to open only liason offices must submit their application to the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
